On May 10, 2024, Dr. Samuel Galle presented a comprehensive overview of tennis elbow at the Bellevue Club in Bellevue, Washington. He covered the leading causes of tennis elbow during his presentation and explained why this condition is so common, even in patients who have never picked up a racket.
Dr. Galle also explained a number of tennis elbow treatment options in great detail that do not involve surgery. The discussion highlighted the benefits of rest, activity modification, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medication, physical therapy, injections, and brace options.
A particularly well-received part of the presentation was an interactive physical therapy session on tennis elbow treatment to compose a pain-free radial nerve glide. Dr. Galle outlined the treatment philosophy of his practice at Proliance Hand Wrist & Elbow Physicians which includes various physical therapy exercises. Attendees were invited to join Dr. Galle in stretching and strengthening activities to support tennis elbow recovery and prevention.
At the end of the presentation Dr. Galle invited attendees to experience a quick ultrasound of their elbow joint to detect tennis elbow. Ultrasound is a non-invasive diagnostic tool that can who the tendon degeneration in the elbow very quickly and without pain. Several participants were able to see their elbow condition in real-time to aid in the diagnosis of their elbow pain.
